Another reminder from police for seniors and their loved ones to remain vigilant concerning the Grandparent Scam.
The NRP tells us criminals are still phoning elderly people, posing as a grandchild or another family member, and sounding urgent in needing legal help.
The caller claims to be in a vehicle collision, or facing criminal charges, and needs immediate financial help.
The NRP adds sometimes a 2nd person joins the call, claiming to be a police officer, or lawyer, to back up the bogus claim.
Victims are pressured to provide large sums of money, and arrange a transfer, and urged not to tell anyone about the call.
