Niagara's NDP MPPs have sent a joint letter to the Minister of Housing, all about the province's Community Homelessness Prevention Initiative.
Wayne Gates, Jennie Stevens and Jeff Burch would like to see a new funding model, that matches local needs for homelessness services.
They say the CHPI is capped, which makes it difficult for municipalities to keep up with local demand.
According to the letter, Niagara receives between $2.5 million to $4-million less in annual funding under the current model, when compared to other regions with a similar population.
Burch, Gates and Stevens also invited Minister Steve Clark to Niagara, to discuss the matter with local officials and community members.
