The state funeral for former Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion will be taking place at Paramount Fine Foods Centre at 11:00 a.m.
MISSISSAUGA - Hurricane Hazel will be laid to rest today, on what would have been her 102nd birthday.
Hazel McCallion served as the Mayor of Mississauga for 12 consecutive terms, totaling 36 years in office before she decided to step down at the age of 93.
She passed away on January 29th this year and a family friend says McCallion was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at around Christmas time.
Her funeral will be taking place at Paramount Fine Foods Centre today. with an 11:00 a.m. start time. Limited seating will be available and members of the public must reserve their seats online here in advance. Those who can't attend in person can tune into the livestream online here.
It's expected that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Premier Doug Ford will speak during the service.
