They have decided to stop charging late fees for overdue children's books and DVDs.
The public libraries in Fort Erie, Pelham, Lincoln and Niagara-on-the-Lake recently implemented the new policy.
Craig Shufelt, the CEO for the Fort Erie Public Library, says the fines can be quite costly for some families.
The Fort Erie library charges 25-cents per day for late books and a dollar a day for late DVDs.
