Police say he evaded them in Niagara Falls, but later caught in Fort Erie
A 41-year old Fort Erie man is facing a number of charges including drug trafficking despite trying to flee from police.
NRP noticed a BMW car being driven on Ferry Street, near Main, in Niagara Falls around 1:30 yesterday morning.
When they tried to stop the car, the driver sped off at a high rate of speed. Since police knew who they were looking for, they didn't pursue for public safety.
Police found the driver in a parking lot near Forsythe Street and Niagara Boulevard in Fort Erie later in the day, and with the help of the K9 unit arrested him.
They found some cocaine and money.
James Maxwell is charged with:
• Flight from Peace Officer
• Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Fail to Comply with Release Order x2
He remains in custody pending a bail hearing today in St. Catharines.
