Fort Erie property owners can expect a slight property tax increase.
Town of Fort Erie council has passed the 2021 operating budget.
The budget includes a property tax increase of 0.32 percent for the Town's portion of the residential property tax.
When combined that the Niagara Region and the Boards of Education levies, residential tax payers in Fort Erie can expect a tax increase of 0.90 percent.
For the average home valued at $200,300, the increase means an extra $2.22 per month.
Other items approved under the Town's operating budget include $137,000 for the Rural Ditching program and $50,000 for a Residential Hospice Niagara expansion.
Town council also approved the 2021 capital budget and 2022 to 2031 forecast.
The capital budget consists of 64 projects, including $2.3 million for the Lindbergh Watermain and Sewer Replacement project and $1.3 million for the 2021 Road Resurfacing program.
