It looks like Fort Erie will spend more money on water and wastewater in 2020.
The council-in-budget-committee gave preliminary approval to a water and wastewater budget last week.
Director of Corporate Services Jonathan Janzen says it includes 2.13 percent increase.
"The budget opened from 2019 with $18.9-million, so it's increasing just under $400,000 to $19.3-million."
The increase is thanks to a $430,000 increase in Regional water and wastewater costs and a $27,000 decrease in the town's portion for staffing and infrastructure.
Janzen says water bills will be going up 2.05 percent for the average homeowner.
"For the average user it's $2.46 per month or just under $30 per year."
