The province is teaming up with the federal government to provide rent relief for small businesses in Niagara and beyond.
Premier Doug Ford released the details of the new Ontario-Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance Program earlier today.
“In total over $900 million will go towards helping these businesses make rent and keep people employed.”
The province is committing $241 million towards the program.
In order to be eligible for the forgivable loans, commercial property owners will have to lower their rent by 75 percent from April to June 2020.
They will also be prohibited from evicting their tenant for three months.
