New agreement guarantees at least four million doses for publicly-funded influenza programs.
The federal government has signed a new contract for influenza vaccines.
The four year deal with pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline includes a minimum of four million doses per year for publicly funded vaccination programs.
Health Minister Jean Yves DuClos says there is also an option to obtain 80 million vaccines in the event of a pandemic.
The contract also includes five one year options following the end of the four year pact.
The first flu vaccine deliveries are set for September and October.
