Henry D'Angela says there's been an increase, and he'll talk to the BIA
It's a common eyesore that most cities deal with... graffiti, and Thorold is looking at ways to stop it.
Councillor Henry D'Angela brought it up at a recent meeting, saying he noticed at least 12 buildings with graffiti, and it seems to be getting worse.
He added some business owners clean it up quickly, others, not so much. "I'm always a firm believer in education, talk to the owners, talk to the business business, because if they're not moving forward, if they're just leaving it there, it'll fester and come back again even more. So, I think we need to talk to our property owners downtown."
He'll take this up with the BIAs, noting some of them are out of town business owners.
"In the past they used to have a fund, where they would help offset some of the cost to the business owners, as some places get tagged more than others, depending on where the building is, and the amount of wall space. So, we may have to come up with some more aggressive strategies."
During this discussion, there was no mention of going after the people doing the graffiti.
