A new MRI machine is heading to Niagara Health, thanks to community efforts.
In just over two months, $2.8 million was raised, thanks in large part to a community-wide call to action from resident Tom Rankin.
In February, the Niagara Health Foundation began efforts to raise money for the machine in order to reduce wait times for Niagara residents.
Currently, the wait time in Niagara is 27 percent longer than the provincial average.
The new MRI will be a 3-Tesla, and it'll be used to provide details of organs, soft tissues and bones.
