Dog owners are being reminded to leash their animals when taking them out in public.
The City of Welland and the Niagara SPCA & Humane Society remind residents that leashes protect dogs from wandering into traffic, getting lost, and getting into confrontations with other animals.
Leashes can also stop dogs from jumping up on people and eating things that may be on the ground.
You're asked to leash your pet when out in public unless in designated leash-free zones.
Residents are also encouraged to license and pick up after their dogs.
