City facilities will remain open, but staff who can work remotely will do so until the end of the month.
The City of Welland is making some changes due to the spread of the Omicron variant.
Beginning January 3rd, staff whose positions allow them to work from home will do so until the end of the month.
All City facilities, where permitted, will reduce to no more than 50 percent capacity.
Officials say despite the reduced number of in-person staff members, the public can still expect excellent customer service.
Protocols will be reviewed at the end of the month to determine the next steps.
