Seniors to get digital training from mentors.
The City of St. Catharines is providing technology training to seniors.
In partnership with non-profit Cyber Seniors, elders will be paired up with digital mentors for the training, with the overall goals of heightening their cyber skills and keeping them socially connected.
Koby Vanyo, Programs Supervisory for the City of St. Catharines, says the program will help seniors feel more comfortable with the Internet as the pandemic looms on.
"As we’ve seen during the pandemic, online access also became essential to stay informed, and helped individuals feel socially connected, while still safe and independent."
Older adults in the area can register to connect with a mentor, and the program will start up virtually on the phone and through Zoom.
Participants will receive training from volunteer mentors at Brock University and Niagara College.
