Education Minister Stephen Lecce has announced that March break will now take place the week of April 12th.
Lecce said that the decision was made based on the advice of public health officials, including Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams.
He says that schools are considered safe, and keeping students in class is one way to help limit community transmission.
Lecce also said that postponing the break for now will also limit disruptions as students return to in-person learning.
He urged people to refrain from traveling, and keeping schools open will prevent that.
