Kim Perry was honoured with a plaque at city hall last week
A young boy is lucky to be alive thanks to the quick action of a crossing guard in Welland.
Kim Perry was helping kids cross at the corner of Prince Charles Drive and Fitch Street a few months ago.
Police described what happened when a car approached the intersection while the boy was on his bike. "He was crossing, and the person in car hadn't noticed, and started making a turn. Kim acted very quickly, and grabbed the young gentleman, got him off and out of the way, and the car actually drove over the bicycle."
Mayor Frank Campion honoured her with a plaque last week at city hall.
"To Kim Perry, in recognition of saving a young boy from being struck by a vehicle. Congratulations on behalf of members of council, and the citizens of the City of Welland. So, we really appreciate all of our crossing guards."
