Steven Soos says people are fed up with 'violent offenders running around', after showing support for a girl sexually assaulted at home
A local advocate for the homeless and drug addiction keeps pressing federal and provincial authorities to act on homelessness, and changes to criminal justice.
Steven Soos showed his support at a recent rally for a little child sexually assaulted by a repeat sexual offender that broke into a Welland home.
He understands frustration on getting some politicians to move. "They're more concerned with their re-election campaign, and doing nothing, to actually taking action on the issues. They always tell me they don't want to rock the boat. Well, people are demanding action, so you have to rock the boat, that's politics."
He's spoken to MP's Tony Baldinelli and Fred Davies, but not heard back from Chris Bittle.
And he says he'll keep talking to various politicians for Community Watch programs, federal bail reform and ending catch and release. "The public is fed up with these violent acts, and these violent offenders running around and freely doing as they please. So, I've spoken to a lot of people, I'm calling once again for the Sex Offender Registry to be made public."
He adds "we cannot normalize this disgusting behaviour".
