Tom Insinna says the region is working around the clock to help people
Reassurance from Niagara's Acting Regional Chair to those who have lost everything from the flooding.
In a media release, Tom Insinna writes "We see you, we stand with you, and we will not leave you to face this alone."
He says regional and local sewers performed as designed, but no municipal system could have absorbed the extraordinary amount of rain in such a short time.
He also thanks the Ontario government for stepping forward with urgently needed relief, but he does not specify what that is.
The region will continue to work around the clock to support those affected.
He says recovery will take time, adding garbage collection will continue over the coming weeks.
