Many deaths due to shoveling, exposure and medical emergencies
As of this afternoon, officials are reporting 35 deaths due to blizzard conditions in Western New York.
Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz provided an update on the storm earlier today.
As of this afternoon, there were 34 deaths in Erie county, and one death in Niagara county.
Officials say there were numerous deaths due to exposure, shoveling and medical emergencies.
Poloncarz says there is still a driving ban in Buffalo, but he hopes that will end tomorrow.
The number of deaths could rise as the National Guard is performing wellness checks at homes that lost power for extended periods.
