Niagara Parks, and private investors, spending millions, including on FIFA World Cup
2026 is shaping up to be a very busy year for tourism in Niagara Falls.
Niagara Parks CEO David Adames giving city council an update on a fan zone for FIFA World Cup, millions to be spent on the marina, observation wheel, and a children's garden.
He added they're also focusing on winter visitations. "Talking up that winter product, we just came through frozen falls, some of those formations are still there... When we talk to some of our guests winter is their favourite time of the year to come, to see that condition. It is special, it is unique, it is engaging, to see the falls that way."
Premier Doug Ford also announced further Destination Niagara plans.
Adames also touched on reducing pedestrian and traffic congestion along the riverfront, and improved cellular service.
Councillor Mike Strange asked about the FIFA World Cup. "Is there any chance that we might be able to get one of the teams to come down from Toronto, I can't think of a better backdrop of the falls, playing an exhibition in Victoria Park would be amazing. Is there any idea if we can get some of the teams down, or Team Canada?"
The CEO says they are working on that, adding Niagara Falls ends up being a destination for players.
