Health Canada still has not approved the Pfizer vaccine for children aged 5-11.
Canada has already secured vaccines for children, if and when Pfizer gets approval from Health Canada.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the country has already secured 2.9 million doses of the children's vaccine from Pfizer. This is enough doses for every child in the country aged 5 to 11 to get a first dose.
The vaccine for kids aged 5 to 11 is about half the dose of the one given to adults. Pfizer has asked Health Canada for approval to administer the vaccine to kids.
Trudeau says it's crucial for Health Canada to go through all the steps before approving anything.
He says that he knows parents are eager to get their children vaccinated. The Prime Minister made these comments this morning, while announcing a standardized proof of vaccination system in Canada.
